Dr. Leon Charkoudian
Dr. Leon Charkoudian is board-certified in ophthalmology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He received his bachelor of science degree at Cornell University as a double major in biology and chemistry. His medical school training was at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and his ophthalmology residency training was at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Charkoudian was fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and South Carolina. Outside of medicine, Dr. Charkoudian loves to play guitar and spend time with his wife, Nicole, and their three children.
Dr. Charkoudian is the head of Cape Fear Retina’s clinical research program, having served as the principal investigator on several FDA-approved national clinical trials.
